Yes, That Is an Ad on Google's Homepage

Share

How invested is Google in the success of Droid, the most hyped device yet to be built using its Android operating system? So much so that it's willing to sully that holy of holies -- its homepage -- with an ad promoting the smartphone.

The ad appears directly below the search field, as you can see in the screenshot above. It points to a landing page hosted by Google, which promotes the Droid's search and navigation capabilities. That page directs people to Verizon to buy the phone.

Hope droid sales improve...and no i didn't notice the ad, even though I used Google over 100 times today.

Google is doing their every can to promote this Droid. They have invested big to this technology. Anyway, what is wrong with that, it is a business. You will do all you can for promotion of you product. Besides, Google is the one that had started this Droid thing. Plus, this additional ad adds to the traffic.

I am totally startled to see this blog post here. How Google can be so commercial? I never expected this kind of conduct from them. I really love the way they designed their landing page. Being most popular search engine it should not act like this. Although they are earning huge money from various ads they should maintain some reputation. Anyway thanks for keeping me informed.
